What is a pet emergency?
Since pets can’t talk, it can often be challenging to know what does and doesn’t count as an emergency. If your pet is displaying any of these signs, please consider it an emergency and get veterinary care right away:
- Difficulty breathing
- Blunt-force trauma
- Uncontrollable bleeding
- Choking
- Seizures
- Hit by a car or in a car crash
- Ingestion of a foreign object
- ingestion of a poisonous substance
- Excessive vomiting
- Severe diarrhea
- Refusal or inability to move or stand
- Loss of consciousness
- Blood in stool
- Unable to pass stool or urine
- Unusually cool or warm body temperature
If you’re seeing any of these symptoms, but in a milder form, call our hospital so we can advise you on any next steps, or advise you to bring your pet in as a precaution.
